Ruwenzori
Uganda Access to the Ruwenzoris has never been easy, always logistically and often politically it can be very trying. The last few years has seen more stability in the region and this has given us the opportunity to offer this seldom visited and very remote mountain as a climbing option. The Ruwenzori Mountains have been called the "Mountains of the Moon" and are believed to be the ones described by the 2nd-century-AD geographer Ptolemy and were long thought to be the source of the Nile. They form a range 100 km long and 50 km wide with the highest point been Margheritea Peak which stands at 5111m on Mount Stanley. Glaciers presently exist on 6 mountains in the range and are used to gain access to the summits of this range. The climbing seasons are January and February and June to August although it is situated in a high rainfall area and you can expect plenty of rain any time of the year.
