Drakensberg

South Africa

Join us on a journey to one of the worlds most beautiful mountain areas. The Drakensberg Mountains, situated on the border of Lesotho and South Africa gives rise to a towering amphitheatre and a spectacular free standing buttress, the Sentinel. Over 3000m high, the route to the Sentinel's summit is attainable, safe and challenging. We meet at Witsieshoek in the Drakensberg and start our walk in. The Sentinel has one rope section of 15m which makes its summit a challenge to most but the rest is scrambling. This adventure involves not only climbing the Sentinel, but also spending a day on top of the Amphitheatre. Once up the infamous 70m chain ladders, camp will be set up on the banks of the Tugela River just as it disappears over the edge and falls more than 900m making it the worlds second highest waterfall. This area is also the play ground of the Bearded Vulture and offers excellent photographic potential.
