Damavand Iran Mount Damavand is situated in Iran, an amazing country to visit and very tourist friendly. This is a snow and ice covered dormant volcano and very similar to Elbrus in ascent. Non – technical and a special place in Persian mythology and folklore, this is a very achievable mountain to the average fit person and an interesting alternative for the adventurous spirit. Although not volcanically active, there are fumaroles near the summit crater that deposit sulfur. The mountain is located near the Southern coast of the Caspian Sea.
